RLWC2017 CEO Andrew Hill said: “The ANZAC test match is always a hotly contested affair, but I have to doubt that both teams will be using this fixture as key to their preparations ahead the Rugby League World Cup.
“This year’s Rugby League World Cup is the most anticipated in history, with coaches and players from across the globe highlighting the significance of the tournament, which puts added importance on any tests played during the international weekend scheduled for early May.”
The ANZAC Test will also expose the Kangaroos to the venue that will stage their RLWC2017 Pool A match against France on 3 November 2017. In all, Canberra Stadium will host three RLWC2017 fixtures; Lebanon vs France (29 October), Australia vs France, and Fiji vs Italy (Friday 10 November).
“Canberra Stadium is a fantastic venue and will host three exciting Rugby League World Cup matches, featuring five different teams including the Kangaroos,” continued Andrew Hill.
The RLWC2017 will be contested from 27 October to 2 December 2017 and hosted by Australia and New Zealand with three pool games also being played in Papua New Guinea.
The tournament will be the biggest event in the region this year, with an estimated 450,000 fans to attend the RLWC2017, which would be a tournament record.
RLWC2017 tickets start from $10 kids/concessions, $20 adults and $45 for a family of four.
